Our Dental Insurance Policy
After we have received your insurance information, our team will gladly file a claim for you. However, we make these files as a courtesy to you, not because we have a contract with your company. We do not choose, or have responsibility, for the decisions your company makes or for the amount they decide to pay on your claim. While we can estimate the payment you will be responsible for, we have no control over what your provider will choose to do with each claim. Furthermore, we are not responsible for errors in your claim.
Fact 1 –NO INSURANCE WILL COVER THE ENTIRE COST
Many patients believe that insurances will pay at least 90% of their dental fees. However, dental insurance is only intended to provide assistance in paying for your dental care. For this reason, most plans pays between 50%-80% of your expenses. Typically, the percentage paid hinges on the amount of coverage that has been paid for, or the contract that your employers has with the insurance company.
Fact 2 –OUR TEAM DOES DETERMINE YOUR BENEFITS
Often, insurance companies reimburse you or your dentist with less than expected and will claim that the reason for this reduced rate is that the fees exceeded the usual, customary, or reasonable fee (UCR). While this statement seems to indicate that your dentist is overcharging, your company may actually be underpaying. Often, this occurs because your company is utilizing a UCR that is 3-5 years old, allowing them to pay les and make more money.
Fact 3 –REMEMBER TO CONSIDER ADDITIONAL COSTS
It is important to consider the deductibles and percentages that will be paid so that we can give you an accurate estimate. To calculate your total price, our practice will take your deductible from the total cost. Afterwards, your insurance will pay a percentage on the remaining total. In essence, you will be required to pay your deductible and the remaining percentage.
Fact 4 – WE ACCEPT OUT OF OFFICE INSURANCE PLANS
Our team is willing to work with dental insurance even though we are not in office with them. We will still file your claim, and you will still be responsible for deductibles and co-pays. Generally, the difference in price is minimal. Please keep us informed if you have any changes in your insurance plans.
